My teaching duties include directing the IntroPsych Program (which service 4000+ students each year), PSYCH 3TT3 (Applied Educational Psychology) and supervision of various student research projects in the Pedagogy Research Lab.
The IntroPsych Program follows in the tradition of our long-standing reputation as Canada’s “most innovative” university. Our courses use a unique blended learning environment combining leading learning technology with traditional face-to-face instruction. Web Modules. One unique aspect of this course is that the primary course materials are presented in online web modules. Students can interact with a dynamic interface which can be accessed anywhere you have internet access. Play videos, pause, jump, explore the searchable content, chat with fellow students viewing the web module, ask questions to the online TAs, test yourself with checkpoints, take a poll, and post a link or leave a comment on the shout wall. You can view a sample (minus the interactive components) at intropsych.net. t;Tutorials. Students meet weekly in a small group tutorial section led by a Teaching Assistant (TA) who is enrolled in PSYCH 3TT3: Applied Educational Psychology. TAs review challenging material, guide discussions, lead activities and answer questions. Tutorials are updated each year helped by feedback from students and TAs. Learning Lab drop-in centre. The Learning Lab in PC-403, open Mon.-Fri. 10:30AM-4:30PM can be used to catch up on web modules and speak with TAs and Instructional Staff to get personal time to answer your questions. Live lectures. The Discover Psychology lecture series that accompanies the course features talks that are specifically designed to be interesting and engaging to the Intropsych student (every Friday, 2:30-3:20 PM, PC-155, coffee and cookies at 2:15 PM). If you can’t make it in person, be sure to catch the lecture on iTunes University and join the online chat with the speaker. For more information visit intropsych.net PSYC 3TT3 (Applied Educational Psychology) supports new incoming Teaching Assistants for the IntroPsych Program. New Teaching Assistants have the opportunity to explore the scholarship of teaching and learning through practical workshops, readings in pedagogy and educational psychology, and class projects. Students interested in applying to conduct research in the Pedagogy Research Lab may do so through Lab study (PSYC 2QQ3, 3QQ3), thesis (4D06, 4D09), or volunteer positions. |
